These Christmas cards were inspired by the beautifully detailed festive cards and postcards of the Victorian era. There are two designs: 'Merry & Bright' (a decorated tree) and 'Season's Greetings' (ribbon-wrapped gifts with holly).
Each design comprises of two hand-carved 'blocks': one for the colour and one for the outline. These are individually inked and then printed onto heavyweight white card-stock. The tinier details all hand-painted in gouache, including gold painted accents. Tilt the cards gently to illuminate them!
The reverse also includes my signature stamp. Each envelope also has a hand-printed string of lights or a holly sprig on the seal flap.
The card is blank for your own personalised message.
Once the card has been opened and read, it could also then have a second life when framed on the wall as a unique piece of handmade art!

Total size of cards: 5.75" x 4" approx.
Important: I cannot guarantee that your printed item will be the exact one shown in the example photographs in the shop. As everything is handmade, there will inevitably be some slight variations with each printing; likewise coloured prints with hand-mixed inks may vary slightly in pigment between batches. This is all part of the charm and uniqueness of your purchase, as no two items will be exactly the same! If the paper has been cut or torn by hand, please also expect very minor differences in size.
