Marbled Background

'Lucky Horse' is an original, completely handmade Limited Edition linocut print on marbled paper. It has been designed and printed in Devon, UK. Every marbled background is different.

This print was conceived in the run-up to the Lunar New Year of the Fire Horse, and features a four-way rotational hobby horse in a folky/vintage fairground style, hand-printed on paper which I have first marbled in the Japanese 'suminagashi' technique. This dramatic marbled background makes each print special and unique to your purchase. It is also symbolic of the 'fire' element to this year's Chinese zodiac, which traditionally represents energy, independence, and change.

These prints are all one-off Limited Editions by the very nature of the marbling process. The design is printed onto Ho-sho paper.

Due to the randomness of the marbling process, I cannot replicate a print that has already sold out. As everything is handmade, there will inevitably be some slight variations with each printing; likewise coloured prints with hand-mixed inks may vary slightly in pigment between batches. This is all part of the charm and uniqueness of your purchase, as no two items will be exactly the same! If the paper has been cut or torn by hand, please also expect very minor differences in size.
