'Clouds Hill Now, Then, and Before' is a lino print in celebration of Clouds Hill, an historic cottage most well-known as the former home of T.E. Lawrence ('Lawrence of Arabia').
The cottage is depicted in three vignettes: today, as a National Trust visitor attraction; as T.E. Lawrence's beloved home in the 1920s and 30s; and as a farm labourers' cottage in the 19th century. Surrounding these are many objects and symbols of significance to Clouds Hill -- and especially to Lawrence, who was (amongst many roles) a British Army officer, archaeologist, diplomat, author, high-speed boat technician, and motorcycle enthusiast!
I was originally commissioned to design this as a small run of ten sepia prints by Martin Gething, a volunteer at Clouds Hill and member of the T.E. Lawrence Society. This latest version, for general release, is the second limited edition. It is available in an early RAF (pre-1956) blue-grey ink, on pale green Kitakata paper.
This print is a strict limited edition of 75. Each one is titled and signed by me, and will also include a printed pamphlet, written in collaboration with Martin, which offers a detailed explanation of the print and its surrounding motifs. You don't need to be a T.E. Lawrence expert to appreciate this very special print of an iconic home, nestled quietly in the Dorset heathland.

Important: I cannot guarantee that your printed item will be the exact one shown in the example photographs in the shop. As everything is handmade, there will inevitably be some slight variations with each printing; likewise coloured prints with hand-mixed inks may vary slightly in pigment between batches. This is all part of the charm and uniqueness of your purchase, as no two items will be exactly the same! If the paper has been cut or torn by hand, please also expect very minor differences in size.
